Community wellbeing support
Across all of our communities, the pressures of life can affect daily living in many ways. Physical, mental, and practical social challenges can have a real impact on our ability to live well.
There are a variety of ways that we can mitigate the negative impact of these challenges, and to create healthy and happy communities.
Livewell can offer you a full variety of evidence-based approaches that will help people better understand how they can live healthy and happy lives.

See below for a choice of sessions that can support good wellbeing. All of these sessions are delivered by experienced and fully qualified wellbeing practitioners – meet our delivery partners

Option 1
Arrange a bespoke in person focussed wellbeing event – create your wellbeing event by choosing sessions from our healthy list of wellbeing taster sessions that community groups can participate in over a half or full wellbeing focussed day.

When choosing your sessions, think about:
- Having a good mix of activities/sessions (e.g. relaxation/education/activity)
- Would you like to have the event in your community space, or at a wellbeing focussed location elsewhere?
- Would you like to book a healthy and tasty lunch as part of your wellbeing event?
- How many people do you want to take part in the session?
- What do you want to get out of the session for your people/group?
- When would you like the event to take place e.g. date/time?
Our Lead Wellbeing Practitioner at Livewell, Gerry, can advise you on all the above considerations, and arrange the full event for you, including venue and lunch if you prefer, so that there is minimal work required at your end to arrange the event.

Option 2:
Book 1to1 wellbeing support for individuals in your community. These session will support people to live well, by enabling positive outcomes for the physical, mental and social/practical wellbeing needs of individuals.
Is there something preventing someone you know from living well?
Wellbeing Practitioner Gerry Mitchell is available for one off consultations or for a series of consultations to support individual wellbeing.
Gerry is an experienced 1to1 and group wellbeing practitioner, he is trained in suicide prevention, mental health first aid and self-harm awareness. He is a trained NHS peer support practitioner and has extensive training in childhood adversity (ACEs) and is trauma informed. He has an extensive knowledge of local statutory and non-statutory resources that can support people to live and work well in their lives.
- 1to1 wellbeing conversations can help people live well in and out of work, and are completely confidential.
- Individuals can access support for physical, emotional and practical challenges (such as help with finances, housing and relationships).
- Gerry can arrange either a 1to1 session with an individual, or a full day of 1to1 appointments for a group of people. Click here to arrange a session/session

Wellbeing on a budget
This 1hr session will help you find ways to practice wellbeing on a budget, by accessing local resources, at home or in person.
Menopause information workshop
Our experienced Menopause expert will develop a bespoke Menopause workshop to suit the needs of your group. Session can run from 2hr introduction session to full day workshops over 6 weeks (covering a wide variety of Menopause related health topics)
Quick, easy and cheap online wellbeing solutions for your day-to-day wellbeing
Learn about easy and cheap ways to practice wellbeing. This 30 min session introduces you to ways to achieve this.
How to develop supportive communities and to help each other
Alcohol and its impact – a better understanding
Full day or half day course focussing on how we can support people to better understand their relationship with alcohol and its impact on the health and wellbeing of ourselves and others. Learn how to carry out an alcohol brief intervention to support others.
Change, loss and grief – a better understanding
A 3 hr session focussing on how we think about change, loss and grief. This session allows us to take time to consider how we approach these feelings, and how we can lean to live well with them.
Stress – supporting ourselves and others to deal with stress
A brief intervention (1hr session) rooted in evidence based techniques to support stress management. Guidance on healthy behaviours for you and others. And information on lots of resources to live well.

Relaxation and social connectedness – the benefits
1 – 2hrs session which introduces people to the impact that mental health and social connectedness has on our wellbeing. This session aims to educate participants on the real benefits good mental health and connectedness has to our overall ability to live healthy and happy lives. The session also explores the impact of poor mental health and social connectedness to our wellbeing, whilst stressing the importance of good habits.
Move more and live well
1 – 2hrs session which introduces people to the impact that regular movement has to our wellbeing. This session aims to educate participants on the real benefits movement has to our overall ability to live healthy and happy lives. The session also explores the impact of poor movement habits to our wellbeing, whilst stressing the importance of good movement habits.
Eat well
1 – 2hrs session which introduces people to the impact nutrition has on wellbeing. This session aims to educate participants on the real benefits eating well has on our overall ability to live healthy and happy lives. The session also explores the impact of poor nutritional habits to our wellbeing, whilst stressing the importance of good nutritional habits.
Sleep well
1 – 2hrs session which introduces people to the impact that sleep has on wellbeing. This session aims to educate participants on the real benefits of sleep, to our overall ability to live healthy and happy lives. The session also explores the impact of poor sleep habits on our wellbeing, whilst stressing the importance of good sleep habits.
Massage/reiki/reflexology session. Full body or head and shoulders – including Swedish deep tissue massage therapy. Breathing workshops. Meditation sessions.

Fun fitness for staff (staff Olympics)
Why not create a staff Olympics event for your team? At a sports venue of your choice.
A competitive day of sports where your teams split into groups and compete against each other in a choice of 5 Olympic style sporting disciplines:

Wellbeing health walk
The benefits of regular movement, including walking are often underestimated. 1 30 min walk per day can reduce the likeliehood of contracting a life limiting chronic disease by up to 50%. Its also great for your mental health.
Our qualified walk leader will plan and lead a walk suitable for all walking abilities. A great way to begin your wellbeing journey!

Scottish Ballet Health at Hand Relaxation/Restoration/Energise/Rejuvenate
Are you looking for a fresh way to feel healthy? Needing to release stress, anxiety and fatigue? Our 10 and 20 min sessions can be used to support physical and mental wellbeing. Accompanied by specially created music, these resources are used by staff in the workplace and at home. No movement experience needed.

1 hr session to boost mood, improve strength and endurance, manage pain, improve posture and develop core muscle strength.

Seated neck and shoulder release
Seated or lying meditation

In this experiential session you will learn how to practice mindfulness – the power of a mindful pause
Yoga for wellness – an introduction
1 hr session suitable for all abilities, from beginner to advanced.
Beneficial for physical strength and flexibility and bringing balance and harmony to your life. Supports positive mental health and those struggling with physical injuries, illness or limitation.

A series of weekly sessions can also be booked.
Tai chi taster
1 hr session suitable for all abilities (beginner to advanced). Ideal for those unable to do aerobic exercise.
Beneficial to the wellbeing of the physical body, the calming of the mind, and therefore lifts the spirits.
One off taster session available.

Exercise class
20 min/ 30 min/ or 1hr sessions.
Can be designed to meet the specific needs of each group (beginner through to advanced).
Generally, focus on strength and cardio exercises.

Ice breaker – getting to know colleagues
A short 30 min session to break the ice for those attending a wellbeing day.
